The son of two accomplished musicians, he was surrounded by melody and rhythm from birth. His family later relocated to Philadelphia—a city revered as a cornerstone of American soul—and it was there that his artistic foundation took root. Growing up singing in church choirs and immersing himself in the sounds of Motown and Philly Soul, he was shaped by the timeless artistry of legends like Marvin Gaye, Stevie Wonder, and Patti LaBelle.

Hailing from Detroit, Michigan, Astro is a seasoned music producer and songwriter whose career spans decades and genres. Since his humble beginnings in 1987—crafting beats on a Casio SK-1—Astro has built a reputation for creating timeless music across gospel, R&B, hip hop, and pop. Over the years, he has worked with both acclaimed mainstream artists, including LaToya London, Rosie Gaines, and The Whispers, as well as numerous independent talents.

After a 20-year hiatus, Astro returned to the music scene with renewed vision, relaunching his label Diversity Records. Under the banner, he has signed, produced, and released projects for artists such as D. Major, Calico Monroe, Sigma, and God’s People.
